Two routes are not one claim

CPSC's current guidance distinguishes garments meeting defined tight-fitting requirements from garments subject to the full children's-sleepwear flammability-testing route. Tight-fitting is more than a casual description of a narrow-looking garment. The source addresses dimensions, construction and specified labels. A shop's snug-fit phrase is useful product information but is not our independent certification that every requirement has been verified.

Read the warning literally

CPSC describes a permanent label and yellow hangtag for tight-fitting garments. The required wording identifies snug-fitting sleepwear as not flame resistant. We do not turn that into a defect claim merely because a warning is present,or turn cotton content into proof that a garment is certified. The actual current package and permanent label still need to match the selected product.

Do not size up for extra room

A snug-fitting design should not be treated as an invitation to buy an oversized loose garment for growth. CPSC's consumer alert specifically cautions about oversized loose cotton or cotton-blend clothing used for sleep. Our site does not recommend a size increase to defeat the intended fit or calculate how long a child can grow into a garment.

Use the rule for shopping

First confirm that the seller identifies the exact item as sleepwear and names the intended fit. Then inspect current labels, selected size and construction information. A fiber name, organic claim or attractive folded photograph cannot establish regulatory compliance. We have not measured garment dimensions or performed a burn test.

Keep the scope visible

This reference explains source-based buying questions, not a legal certification or personal fit assessment. Our tools display native chart rows and count complete sets without collecting child measurements. Independent textile,sleepwear-safety and content review remains pending. Current received labels and any manufacturer clarification are separate evidence from a successful website build.
